SMS earthquake predictions alerts people

Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) from Philippines is rebuffing an earthquake prediction, allegedly from a psychic nun, circulating through email and text messages. In its website (www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph), Phivolcs insisted that it is not issuing nor has ever issued any earthquake predictions because "there is no technology in the whole world, even in highly developed countries," that can predict such events. The prediction brought panic among people in Manila and in other towns nearby.
Phivolcs assured that there had been no verifiable earthquake precursors detected by the agency's seismic network that would point to a major tremor. Anyway, the institute reminded everyone that both weak and powerful
On April 14, a flurry of text messages have circulated, saying that Sister Reodica predicted an impending magnitude 9-earthquake that would hit Metro Manila at 5 p.m., and asking message receivers to pray.
